Abstract

Thoracic disc herniation is less frequent than cervical or lumbar disease. Also, the nonspecific symptoms of pain associated with this condition have frequently led to erroneous diagnoses. A 64-years-old woman presented with non-specific leg weakness. After 6 years, we diagnosed that the thoracic disc herniation was the causal lesion and hence, performed percutaneous endoscopic thoracic discectomy. However, recurrent thoracic disc herniation with instability occurred after surgery. Over-distraction of the disc space could have caused the instability at the time of cannula insertion; as the thoracic disc height is relatively narrow, caution should be employed when inserting it in the disc space.
